A wine-pages offline, where the wines started off just fine. I find Musar makes me enebriated in a way that no other wine does, and by the time we got on to the 1990s vintages I was very squiffy indeed. But the consensus was that all the younger wines showed disappointingly. Not sure why.
2001 Chateau Musar Blanc 90 Points
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Mildly oxidative, smooth, lush, spicy - tastes like a red in fact - lovely

1990 Chateau Musar Blanc 92 Points
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Oxidative and savoury, bites you on entry, like an old style white rioja, but softer textured - showed brilliantly tonight

1995 Chateau Musar Rosé
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Tingly, sharp, a touch medicinal, some grip on the finish - interesting

Full, dark, opulent and fruity, velvet texture, refined for a Musar

1977 Chateau Musar Flawed
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Corked. Like the last bottle I had five years ago. And like the last bottle, one could detect under the taint, a wine of thrilling focus and bite

Round, ripe, sweet, old, soft and fruit cakey - an attractive old lady

1989 Chateau Musar 90 Points
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Volatile, sharp and edgy, but very substantial, perhaps could do with some more charm

1990 Chateau Musar 91 Points
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Next to the 1989, this was a much smaller, shorter wine, but it was broad, smooth and sweet, and altogether more charming

1994 Chateau Musar
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Even bigger than the 93, even more alcohol - sweet, heavy, port-like - not for me

1995 Chateau Musar
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
What's happening here - sharp, hot, over-alcoholic, just like the three preceding vintages

1996 Chateau Musar
Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
Lighter, and more medicinal on the palate, lifted and sweet - much nicer than the preceding quartet.

Ripe and sweet, burly, rather attractive, but hard to assess at this stage of the evening
