As always, this isn't at all a traditional Sauv Blanc, but it's still quite tasty. Some oak, but not overboard. Ok acid, but not as much as I like. Fairly ripe mouthfeel, with lots of green herbal notes (sage and dill, not grass). Unfortunately, this seems to be on the decline now. Drink up.

Disappointing for what it is, but once again, I find another 2007 Rhone to be grossly overrated. This drinks like a solid but basic Cotes du Rhone - simple, fruit-forward, unstructured, open for business but as good as it's going to get. Spectator's on some serious crack if they think this thing's going to still be in its prime in 2030. Delicious, but I liked their basic CdP better.

Wow, this is unexpectedly beautiful. The age is perfect - just enough secondary notes to mellow out what was obviously some fairly massive fruit in its youth. Very complex flavors, including some of my beloved poop.
WOW. I'm handing this only my second 97 pointer ever. Still that scary brown color, but even better. Gorgeous nose with tropical fruits, honey and raisin, echoed on the palate with an intense, downright sour acidity. An absolutely explosive wine with stunning balance, everything in its right place, with the counterweights perfectly aligned. Sad that this may be the last bottle of this I'll get to try.

Tasty, but simple. Basic Shiraz flavors with a bit more meatiness, and a nice acidity. Solid, not outstanding.

Awesome stuff. The acidity is the defining factor on this - powerful, almost sour, and mouthwatering.

2006 Shafer Relentless 90 Points

Good, but comparatively basic syrah. Hits all the right notes, it just doesn't ever reach beyond the simple stuff.

Decent, but overdone. On the sweet side, without the balancing acidity of the rest of the group.
