Well, we know salil likes this wine! I have to say that this is pretty spectacular stuff... really wonderful in its depth and clarity of flavor and its balance of acid and sweetness, no sweet and sour here... Clearly an 'outstanding' wine with a very long life ahead of it... I have had it a few times and not posted and also agree that it may be closing down a bit.

Very similar note to last time I had this wine... this thing just won't age and is remarkably primary and unevolved. The wine is likable, firmly in the New World camp of syrah, but not overdone or overworked. I admire those who have the ability to wait and see what this turns into... I don't. "Very good" wine though I can see calling this 'excellent' for its style.
This wine was very well liked by all, it is a very gregarious and outgoing wine with good fruit, balance, and depth of flavor... seems a little pricey though in the mid 20's if that is indeed the price. 'Very good' wine, 'excellent' for its style.
Have had this wine several times and think it is very much in the 'very good' camp in its level of quality... it is a very pure and good example of cool climate syrah though because of that will not be to everyone's liking, so serve cautiously.
This wine was disappointing and came off as being hot, out of balance, and lacking depth and finesse. 'Average' wine but very weak qpr and very weak for the appellation.
This drank well and was the facorite of the nite... lots of deep, dark brooding fruit, nice dose of brett, very round and fleshy on the midpalate, long finish... one of the few 'outstanding' wines of the nite... can drink of hold for a few more years, the few of you out there that have this.
Of all the notes I have written on this site, I don't think there has been a bigger gap in my assesment of quality and the community's than this wine and the 99 Guigal Hermitage. This bottle, much like the 98 I posted on some time ago really was lacking... I found it not very aromatically expressive, not deep in flavor, texturally hard and unpleasant. This wine came from the same retailer as the bottle of 98 I thumped... so, while this bottle of wine was 'average'to 'good' at best, I think I should hold judgment on these two wines until I taste a bottle from a different retailer.

Big disappointment of the nite... bottle was corked. I have had this before and it is one of the best vintages of this wine, clearly 'outstanding.'
