  • Nose: The nose is wide open right off the bat with classic cote rotie funk, violets, black cherries, spice tones, bacon fat, and even some dirty diaper tones. There is really good balance to this with some real nice layering as well.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium/high acidity and some noticeable tannins. The structure is still showing youth along with balanced and deeper tones of violets, black cherries, spices, loads of potpourri and some funk on the back end.

Overall: This was a gorgeous wine. It only got probably a half hour to 45 minutes of air, but it was singing when we got into it.

  • Farewell Little Buddy (Reno, NV): Deeply colored, red to brick rim, lots of sediment. Very aromatically complex with quite a bit of brettanomyces aromas... olive, tar... fruit is in there, dark and red... no new oak aromas. On the palate moderate to high acidity, a very round and full midpalate, very integrated tannins. Balanced wine with loads of complexity (a lot from brettanomyces), long finish, highly intense in aroma and flavor. Wine has finesse, fine texture, great expression of place. Wine is at its peak and drinking very well for those who don't mind the funk.

  • Boys nite, first of fall/winter 2010/2011 (Reno, NV): This drank well and was the facorite of the nite... lots of deep, dark brooding fruit, nice dose of brett, very round and fleshy on the midpalate, long finish... one of the few 'outstanding' wines of the nite... can drink of hold for a few more years, the few of you out there that have this.
