Taste of the Town III

This was a very nice event in a great location. The appetizers served with the wine were fantastic and the wines themselves worked very well with the food. I enjoyed the wines of this event more than my scores would indicate. The pairings were spot on.

1st Course - Ecuadoran ceviche of shrimp
2nd Course - Fried Oyster w/ pico de gallo
3rd Course - Crab Cake
4th Course - Seared tuna with mango salsa
5th Course - Blackened snapper tostada

  Spain, Galicia, Rías Baixas

  Great nose with aromas of key lime pie, white flowers, grapefruit, lemongrass, and citrus peel. On the palate, it has nice crisp flavors of lime, pear, grapefruit, and herbs. Finishes clean and crisp.

  Muted nose of golden delicious apple and pear,on the palate, came alive with big flavors of sweet apple and pear. Sweetness balanced by the wonderful acidity on the finish. WOTN Great value, must have this with Thai food sometime.

• 2008 MacMurray Ranch Pinot Gris Russian River Valley 83 Points

  Distinct aroma of mineral and straw to go with the honeyed citrus smells. On the palate, notes of apple, citrus and honey. Finishes mineral tones and a strong whack of oak that unbalances it a little bit.
