France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Dark, meaty, masculine. Perhaps unfairly reflected when paired with the much lighter and more charming Rousseau Chambertin. Can do with more breathing time.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Initially notes of burnt rubber, got better but still somewhat tight and alcoholic. Perhaps like the Lignier would have benefited from more breathing time.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Tâche Grand Cru
Unmistakable bouquet of Asian spices, smoked meats and black fruits. Not as fully fledged as some other vintages but still rich, complex and highly satisfying.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru
Stunning nose of spring flowers, black fruits, sweet spices, licorice and toast. Some might say it's a bit light for Richebourg but who cares if it's this gorgeous and sexy?
1990 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut
France, Champagne
Lovely nose of oxidised pears and apples. Great start to the evening.
