  • 2006 Janare Fiano Colle di Tilio

    Italy, Campania, Campania IGT

    Alcohol :: 13.5%
    Dark bright golden. Very expressive on the nose, loads of yellow fruits, mineral and light spices, honey and nut. When the color suggested this is a white wine with aged, the palate flavor isn't really so. Highly concentrated rich yellow fruits dominating the palate, oily in texture that flows onto the palate effortlessly. Complex in flavors though not necessary with depth. Flavorful and delicious, the finish is very long too. I would love to try this with some age. Buy - Maybe.

  • 1999 Bruno Paillard Champagne Assemblage Brut

    France, Champagne

    Alcohol :: 12%
    Degorge @ May-2008. Served with Riedel Bord O. 42% Pinot Noir, 29%each of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. This bottle is relatively austere and quite shut compared to the previous bottle. Full of yeast on the nose and display more honey, white floral and a tad steely, iron when the wine getting warmer. Lightly oxidative character on the palate which added better weight and depth. Entry is a bit sharp then rounded up a bit on the mid palate, very good balance between the lively acidity and fruits sweetness, but not really expressive in flavors. The medium length finished getting sweeter with time and lightly salted mineral that's linger. This clearly need more time in order to come out the shell. Buy - Maybe.

  • 1979 Château de Camensac

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc

    Alcohol :: NA
    Opened for 60mins. Served in Riedel Bord O. Medium dark brick red. Lots of funk, antique wood smell, with some tobacco, mineral and cassis, not highly complex but the bouquet from a mature claret is simply lovely. Still remain fresh on the palate. Slight rough texture but overall this is a fully mature, integrated wine, smooth with a touch of tannin grip and wrapped by some sweet tones. Long, linear finish. This is on its ways down but still, offered some complexity and very classic which we enjoyed. Buy - Maybe.

  • 1997 Château Barde-Haut

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

    Alcohol :: 12.5%
    Decanted for 90mins. Served with Riedel Bord O. Dark ruby with light brown rim. The aromas is bold and sweet, with very good focus and display lots of spices, earth, leather and sweet plum. Medium bodied, to me this is drinking at its peaks though my friend wasn't really with me. I really like the lush sweet dark fruits, rich but not heavy which intermixed with some chocolate, cocoa, floral. The sweet, soft tannin has fully integrated, silky smooth mouth feel that goes on to the medium length, juicy finish. There was a little bit of heat, but by no mean distracted the drinking pleasure. Good completeness, very fresh and energetic though lack a bit of depth, but this is just too demanding for a 1997. This shall drinking at its plateau for the next 5yrs. Buy - Maybe.

  • 2007 Bodega Numanthia Toro Numanthia

    Spain, Castilla y León, Toro

    Alcohol :: 14.5%
    Very young, it was super tight even decanted for 2hrs. This opaque dark purplish wine boost nothing but new oak on the nose and firm structure that formed by high level of firm, slightly powdery tannin and new oak dominated the palate, very rich and concentrated dark fruits buried underneath with slight alcoholic, spicy finish. The wine only expressed himself the following day, after triple decanted for approx 20hrs. Butterscotch, fragrance powder with dark and red berry fruits that lifted by slight alcoholic tone and move on to the very firm, intense palate which the structure very much mellow down and tannin has soften, reveal the underlying red cherry fruits, dark chocolate and some perfume elements that filled the mouth firmly. Delicious on the entry and mid palate, but the transition to the finished wasn't smooth, slightly disjointed, with spices aftertaste that bring out by the alcohol and new wood. However, thanks to the fresh minerality presence which lending some lightness to this heavy weight boxer. This will only be better in another 5-7yrs time and for the asking $, this is hard to beat. Buy - Maybe - Yes.
