    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

    Alcohol :: 13.5%
    Bright ruby red. Not really expressive but this is intense and focus with aromas of fresh mint, star anise, roast meat intermixed with red, black cherry as well as earth, really not bad for such a young wine. Still pretty tight despite opened for 5hrs, decanted for 1.5hrs, in fact, it almost shut down at the end of the dinner. A bit austere, but the mouth feel is enormous. very well balance, with good purity and expansive mouth feel that showed off the bright red cherry fruits sweetness that buffer off the high acidic backbone with touch of earth and meatiness that supported by very fine tannin that has almost completely absorb by the concentration. Long finish with orange aftertaste. 88-90

  • 1996 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe aux Moines Vieille Vigne 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

    It was sourish, lean and lack of fruits when popped and poured. Decanted for 60mins and this started to show what its got! Very perfume sweet cherry on the nose that surrounded by plenty of floral scents, especially roses along with dried tea leave, earth, anise and meatiness, very enticing and focus. I'm surprised! Very complete and lush on the palate too, with modest scale of a 1er Cru but this has the harmonious and precision of a Grand cru! The acid is on the high side at first that inherited from the vintage, but with time the underlying sweet fruits surface and hit the perfect balance point with fine grained tannin leads to the medium length finish with detail that linger with sweet plum. earth and meatiness. Very delicious!

  • 1994 Château La Conseillante 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

    Alcohol :: 12.7%
    Dark garnet core with brick rim. This was Really delicious, fully matured but with enormous energy and drive. This has alluring aromas of perfume dried roses, leather, sweet plum, smoke meat, earth, chalk and touch of milk chocolate that wrapped up to the very soft, complex and elegance bouquet. Palate is as good as the nose that still possess very good freshness and focus, tobacco leaf, mint, earth, with good sweetness from sweet plum and acid from blackberry that accompany with mineral freshness, very good and delicious. The tannin is very fine and almost fully resolved. Finish is long and linger. with matured complex mouth feel and bitter cocoa. This is way better than the previous bottle.

  • 2001 Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape 90 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    Popped and poured. Bright ruby red, the nose was really sweet with heavy cherry liquor and a bit of Brett which is not really appealing. Decanted for 1.5hrs and man, this is seriously nice! The heavy cherry liquor note has mellow down and turned into very perfume cherry liquor that accompany by load of violet red floral scents. When the wine sit in the glass, the bouquet become more complex: mint, sweet candy, sweet fig, mineral, violet, light meatiness and forest floor, very perfume and vibrant. Powerful and polished on the palate with elegance and finesse. The complex mouth feel is incredible for a entry cuvee. The slight powdery tannin is sweet and well-integrated that added a little bit more depth with medium length spicy infused finish that has excellent persistent, Yum!

    p/s: This is 3rd bottle for my friend in 2011 and he commented that 1st bottle was too forward with heavy fruits, 2nd bottle was really backward and this is the bottle that hit the right balance. The bottle variation is quite serious. This is by far the best bottle.
