France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Much richer than the village with a stronger line of terroir. Obviously masculine Gevrey, but almost a feminine elegance. Jean-Louis has a brilliant touch. Strong Cassis with nice complexity and balance.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru
Rocket fuel, almost a touch of petrol, but it isn’t alcohol. We tasted this two years ago and the evolution is extraordinary. The mid-palate keeps surprising as successive waves of layered fruits are revealed. Manages to be old-school, austere Burgundy, but with ripe fruit, even in a less than ideal vintage. Amazing complexity.
Bought this one and had it with dinner in Paris. Much more elegance than power. Pear, citrus, serious wet stone minerality, asian spice, coriander. Obviously Alsatian. A little creaminess in the middle. Acid, petrol and a touch of sweetness on the finish. QUINCE and ginger!
From a vineyard located just under Volnay Santenots. Lots of mineral with almost no sense of oak. Almost drinks like a 1er cru Chablis but with a little more body. Finishes for well over a minute.
full mouthfeel with great integration of fruits. Really bright, soft tannins. Some light clove and an almost citrus tartness to balance the red fruits. Delicious
Still very full tannins. Incredibly bright fruit with lots of chewy cherry, red and black. Lots of clove and cinnamon spice. Vety long with a big clove “pop” at the finish. Unbelievable for this level.
Up a giant notch. Very great line of terroir. Much more complex fruit and spice. I plan to go long on this one! These wines are just on a different plane from most.
2008 Domaine Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Much brighter than I expected from ’08 Gevrey but there is still lots of muscle. Earth, mineral, clove and cherry. Geez I love Trapet.

2007 Domaine Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
Very thick in the mouth with an austere mix of black and red fruits (red dominates). Lots of dirt.

2006 Trapet d'Alsace Riesling Beblenheim
France, Alsace
Alsatian. Soft with no petrol or intense minerality. Oops, ok a little petrol now. Also a little creamy with soft acid. Once again very elegant.
