The Ledbury

Cheryl and I enjoyed the wine pairings with The Ledbury's wonderful tasting menu. It was a great evening of food and wine. The wine pairings were an additional £50 on top of the tasting menu price. It was money well spent as the pairings worked beautifully with each course.

• 2010 Crawford River Riesling Young Vines

  Australia, Victoria, Western Victoria, Henty

  Aussie Riesling isn't usually my thing but this worked nicely with the richness of the ceviche of scallops. Some heat on the nose and palate if taken on its own. Best with food.

  This was a beauty. The richness was wonderful with grilled mackerel. Lots of acids.

• 2006 Marc Colin et Fils Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Blanc

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

  Nicely aged with a light frame of oak. Wasn't overly deep but satisfying. I wouldn't let this sit much longer

  Oily and rich with a mouth coating finish. Lots of life left here.

  Dark in color. Big and ripe on the palate. Surprised given that it is an 2008 CDR.

• 2008 Domaine Le Soula Le Soula Rouge

  This was one of the most interesting wines of the night. Medium in weight. Beautiful nose. Smooth and elegant tasting. Impeccable balance and grace on the finish. Need to seek this out.

• 2007 Bodegas Bentomiz Málaga Ariyanas Naturalmente Dulce

  A nicel sticky. Rich and slightly sweet. Starting to show some secondary flavors. This should age beautifully.
