More buttery and tropical citrus than the other 2 wines, yet high acid and not as rich as the Vaucoupin. Crisp, orange zest fruit, lots of oyster shell on the finish. The Piuze '09s showed a lot more grip than I recall when I first tasted them.
Medium ruby. Rugged nose. Not overly ripe. Licorice and spice. Medium weight and texture with some wood. Meaty red fruit. A strapping Pommard, hardly the model of elegance or grace.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Medium center, light edge. Fairly lean and green. Light weight and astringent. I wonder if there is some chaptalization since in the midst of this, there is a strange candied note. Short finish. Not appealing.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Light with some browning. Earth filled nose. Light weight but harmonious (more so than the other 2 wines). Gently sweet entry, moderately tannic finish, adequate aciditiy. Quite Gevrey in style.
2010 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Excellent balance between brine and ripe fruit. Excellent feel. Green tones, good acidity.

2009 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Pale and green. Lime aromatics. Textural and lush, but excellent acidity and not at all too fat or sweet. Good long earthy finish.
