Tasted against Pommard, same year, same producer; 1er cru more refined, lighter, more elegant, but difference is not major; the 1er cru nice and lovely; to the dark side, eucalyptus

For a Pommard from 2009 this feels light, more like a warm vintage Jura red. Focus is on acidity, red fruit, tangy long finish with some blood orange acids. Over two days, there’s a shift through phases of sous-bois, iron ore, beets, volatile acidity, chilled raspberries, and some old murky wooden sailing boat. It’s very refreshing and high quality, but for the price I was expecting even more simply put.

Piuze and Pacalet (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Medium ruby. Rugged nose. Not overly ripe. Licorice and spice. Medium weight and texture with some wood. Meaty red fruit. A strapping Pommard, hardly the model of elegance or grace.

Pronounced nose intensity with notes of riped cranberry, strawberry, fruit forward, flora. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Medium+ finish.

Assez mutique à l'ouverture. a eu besoin d'air pour s'exprimer.
Vin puissant et assez agréable mais je pens el'avoir ouvert trop tôt.
