Lovely rich voluptuous style of Pinot. Undoubtedly high quality and excellent fruit. Gray, blue peppercorns with light smoke. Mocha, creamy menthol but so so much fruit up front. That's excellent yummy fruit of course. Drinking well now. So so plump but will absolutely improve with bottle age. A fantastic Pinot from a stellar vintage. This is Grand Cru quality fruit but Sonoma styling. NOT to be confused with Burgundy that's for sure.
So much leather. Only a touch of rusticity. Dried potpourri, cherry, tar, white anise. Old dirt. Not very tannic. Drink now. Classic Bordeaux left bank character. Some celery and green pepper on the back end.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Stunningly clean nose. Cotton, peach, fuzzy peach, lime zest. Nice touch of brioche. Some nice slate. Kiss of oak. Elegant and the palate is super balanced. No rough edges. A little body and a slight richness I enjoy.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Gorgeous nose. Super aromatic baking spice. Super funky too. Red tar, funk, shrooms, a little wet dog. Nice sweet spice. Beautiful tannins. Caressing and drinking well now.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Big wine. Spicy rustic cherries. Red roast peppers. Some old leather and a touch of ox. Some nice fruit. Sweetness in the tannins. A little oak and vanilla. Slight age showing but a really nice wine for this vintage. Drink now. Moderate body and a little less sexy as other Pavie in general.
Agree with RJ. Dry cocoa nibs. Lighter gray pepper. Smoked deli meats, hot cocoa with marshmallows. Dusty. Sweetness in the tannins but still gripping and rich. Feminine but powerful. Stunning wine. Still so young.
Blackberry, raspberry syrup. Lots of fruit. A little juicy. A touch of cinnamon and creamy ripe berries. A touch of black road tar as well. Lovely light spice. Blue fruit, cassis, mocha, and a little gamey. Some earth on back end. Palate is gorgeous. Nice medium to full body. Not over ripe.
YES! I really loved this bottle and I'm glad I brought it when I did. Massive fruit bomb. Creamy cassis, chocolate, earth, sweet spice. Fluffy, cotton candy, bubble gum. Huge extraction. Only 13.5% on bottle, but I'm not sure...still so big and so much fruit, it's just great. Not hot at all. Drinking like a cult Napa for sure. Get this stuff. Love this house style. Delish!
Rustic but ripe fruit. Dark anise, bitter cocoa nibs. Showing well on the nose for an off vintage. Finish dies off a bit which is consistent with other Napa Cabs from 2000 in my notes. Just a bit thin.
Lots of unique funk spice drive. A little meaty and savory. Cured bacon fat. Such an intoxicating nose. Palate is more subtle. Crazy anise, road tar and more of that rich cured bacon fat.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Remarkable wine. Waxy, slate, restrained. So much minerals, white peach, floral notes. Fantastic elegance in the aromatics. So many thoughts and descriptors - light nuts, light yellow olives, super intense and alive. Energy and life on the palate. It flies all around your mouth. Creamed corn and sweetness. Wet side walk. Holy crap this was awesome.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Plump cranberry, some stewed tomato and red roast pepper. Bloody meat. A little age showing and screams Rhone...yet it was Burgundy. Still really thought funky Syrah. So much spice. Woody. Cinnamon and anise. Red rocks. Drinking really well right now. Lift and finesse.
My kind of Syrah..and of course it ended up being an Alban. Special creamy bright bing cherries. Spice. A little enjoyable heat. A touch of exotic fruit and richer sexy robust anise and mossy funk. Awesome styling. Thick and really big on the yum factor.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Super fragrant. Great darker almost plum fruit. Lots of smoke. Some nice earth and black rock. Gorgeous and so many layers of flowers, black violets, rock, rich dark red all spice and sweet nutmeg.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Oh my goodness. One of the better and most astounding tastings of a white in some time. Library release directly from the winery! Awesome funky, sulfur, earth, brioche, lemon peel. Super shroomy too! Waxy, cotton and linen. Fresh and lively. No premox at all. Barely any age showing too! Incredible! Gingerbread baked goods. Some fresh ginger too. Great great showing of this fantastic wine.
