Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2010 E. Guigal Condrieu 91 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Condrieu

Light yellow-green. Initially restrained nose that became more and more expressive as time went on, revealing apricot, lemon blossom, quince and hints of smoke. Medium-bodied with nice freshness, handling nicely the 14% alcohol content and the use of oak, with balancing acidity and a long aftertaste. A solid, but not particularly expressive Condrieu.

  • 2006 E. Guigal Ermitage Blanc Ex-Voto 94 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

Dark gold. Expressive, but continuously evolving nose with candied apricot, marzipan, sweet oak, intense pine trees honey that became dominant after aeration and hints of oxidation. Full-bodied, thick and oily textured with huge extract but nicely balanced by sufficient acidity to avoid being flabby or cloying. Endless aftertaste. A characterful love-it-or-hate-it wine.

  • 2007 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

Catchy, expressive nose with red cherries, black pepper, violets, asian spice and leathery scents. Medium-bodied with a lovely fruit and spice combination, firm tannins, freshness, balancing acidity and a long aftertaste. Excellent entry-level Cote-Rotie.

  • 2006 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 97 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

Simply amazing! Dark ruby-garnet. Unbelievably attractive and complex nose of burnt wood, black cherry, cassis, blackberry jam, bacon fat, anise, swet spice and moccha. Full-bodied with firm tannins, very rich fruit, balancing acidity and an almost endless but somewhat oaky aftertaste. A masterpiece. Will improve even further over the next years, but to my surprise it is already so approachable.
