Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • 2006 Château Cos d'Estournel Blanc 86 Points

    France, Bordeaux

    Highly exotic aromas that is also very attractive with all sorts of tropical fruits, guava and white floral scents. I thought the nose is brilliant but however on the palate the acid backbone is a bit sharp and intruding. Fresh and complex with good richness, just the mouth feel is a tad less attractive. good length. 70% Sauv Blanc & 30% Semillon.

Flight 2 (3 Notes)

  • 2008 Goulée 85 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc

    Dark soy sauce, smoke, tobacco and spices. The fruits is shy on both Nose and palate. Fresh and focus but still this has a bit too much oak to my liking. quite heavy argue back with tobacco and vanilla note. Powerful finish.

  • 2007 Les Pagodes de Cos 84 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

    50% Merlot, 48% Cab, 2% Petit Verdot. Quite a dark, jammy nose of black berry fruits, a touch of spice, wood and earth. Medium bodied with soft entry that continue to grow on the palate with some bitter tannin grip which gave the austere impression. I don't really like the green, tobacco leaves at the medium length, alcoholic finish.

  • 2007 Château Cos d'Estournel 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

    85% Cab with 15% Merlot and Cab Franc. Full of wood spices, dark chocolate cookies with touch of sweet black currant, earth and some pencil shaving. Medium - full bodied. the tannin is still quite dominant but fine grained and well controlled. Not distracting even though the fruits is a tax underwhelming by the tannic structure. The oak is slightly on the high side and quite modern to my preference but i thought this is still well controlled. Long, juicy finish which I was surprise that the fruits come out at the very end. Not bad but stylistically not what I like.

Flight 3 (1 Note)

  • 2001 Tokaj Hétszőlő Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos 84 Points

    Hungary, Tokaji

    Alcohol :: 11.5%.
    Medium golden. Toasted hazelnut, sweet lemon and pear, seaweed and orange blossom. This is sweet and rich but the refreshing acidity as well as the black tea like flavors keep the mouth feel refreshing and lifted. not bad at all albeit the finish is a bit alcoholic and weak compare to the turbo charge mid palate.
