Introduction

We try to keep it to US wines for this time of year. All non-blind with friends and neighbors. On CdP slipped in.

Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2008 Bedrock Wine Co. Red Wine #2 Bedrock Vineyard 91 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley

    (7/5/2013)

Outstanding wine. Still young and needs some time though. The nose is deep with black cherries, anise, wood, black raspberries and leather. Full bodied. Drinks very well. Lots of depth, but needs air/time to unwind. Delicious.

  • 2012 Bevan Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Ritchie Vineyard 92 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    (7/5/2013)

Pale golden in color. Gorgeous nose of grapefruits with minerality. Lots of power and depth to the nose. I could sniff this all night long. With air a slight vanilla cookie note emerges that is very pretty. On the palate, this is full bodied. Not quite as good as the nose, but very good. decent acidity. The grapefruit carries over to the palate. Clean finish. Altogether, one of the best examples of California Sauvignon Blanc.

  • 2012 Bedrock Wine Co. Ode to Lulu California Rosé 88 Points

    USA, California

    (7/5/2013)

Very pale salmon pink in color. The nose has rhubarb, cranberries and strawberries. Nice refreshing texture. On the palate, this is a very delicate wine. Quite refreshing on a hot summer evening. Went well with lighter food. Nice wine.

  • 2007 Domaine de Cristia Châteauneuf-du-Pape Renaissance 91 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    (7/6/2013)

Ruby in color with some purple swirls. The nose has raspberries, strawberries and a fair amount of fresh cut oak. Some floral notes. On the palate, this is a bit more reticent than most of the 07's I have tried. Nice red fruits. Not showing a lot of complexity. Great texture. Perhaps this will improve with age. This is very nice right now, but I had higher hopes for it. It is what it is. Held up nicely on day 2.

  • 2009 Alpha Omega Proprietary Red 93 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    (7/7/2013)

I really liked this wine. Looking back at AG's reviews, I found this far more to my taste. Purple/ruby in color. The nose has cherries and a dark chocolate powder quality that is very nice. A bit of cassis as well. Open and strong. My favorite part of the wine was its texture. It is very soft and smooth with no bite at all. We drank this on the patio without food, and it was delicious. Cherries, dark chocolate, depth with layers. Obviously young, but ready to drink now for pure enjoyment. Not sure where it goes over time (this was my only bottle). A bit pricey, but I would certainly consider buying again. Not a bruiser and not a "Bordeaux-silted" wine either. Unique.
