This weekend the family got together to fry up the walleyes we brought home from our June fishing trip to Ontario, and to fix a bunch of Iowa sweet corn that is currently in peak season. I pulled out a nice mix of whites that I thought would make an appropriate accompaniment.
The wines all showed beautifully and were a great match with the food.
2012 Bevan Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Ritchie Vineyard 92 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
My impression was that this is very crisp and steely in style. The acidity, minerality, weight, and mouthfeel reminded me of a Grand Cru Chablis.

2012 Bevan Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Kick Ranch 93 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
This was richer and more generous with the fruit than Ritchie Vineyard. Lots of peach notes and a nice creaminess to the texture.

2012 Bevan Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Tench Vineyard 93 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
This was the biggest and most tropical of the three Bevan SBs. Has a great core of fruit and a nice sense of richness. Very refreshing and pretty complex.

2009 Aubert Chardonnay Lauren Estate Vineyard 93 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Classic Aubert nose. Very fresh, bright, and lively on the palate with notes of mixed citrus and flowers. A bit more lean in profile than many Aubert Chardonnays.

2006 Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains 94 Points
USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
This bottle showed wonderfully tonight. It is beginning to develop a beautiful richness and complexity from age. It has a nice golden hue, but no hints of oxidation on the nose or palate. This showed a wonderful balance of fruit and honeyed butterscotch notes in an extremely smooth, seamless package.
