Introduction
This was a really fun tasting at Al's with his signature smoked shimp and beef bourg... Jim and Raylynn Lester joined us an offered up a very wide range of their wines including some older vintages (including many that I didn't get notes in for).
2000 Prager Riesling Smaragd Achleiten 88 Points
Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
Bright yellow with a green tinge. Nice round aroma of mineral, fruit and acidity. Odd dusty fruit and tight acidity on the plate.

2002 Wyncroft Riesling Madron Lake 90 Points

Medium yellow/green color. Nice rich round aroma of yellow fruit. Big tight acidic white fruit on the palate with a hint of smokiness.

Pale white/yellow color. Tight round (hollow?) angular aroma of rubbertree plant. Bright acidic green pear on the palate with white pepper notes. Tight, may round out with some time.

Full ruby red. Wow, huge big acidic aroma of stone cherry fruit and roses. Hot bright cherry cough drop on the palate with a tight finish. Actually still needs some time.

2003 Wyncroft Shou Avonlea Vineyard 93 Points

I thought the single best wine in a wide ranging lineup of Wyncrofts (many that didn't make the notes). This wine had great depth of fruit with wonderful cab franc character. Could easily compete in California at the price point. 93-94 pts.
