Big Italian tasting organised by United Cellars. Standard elbows at a dawn.
I just did everything in my own approximate guess of weight...and on what I could negotiate my way to the tasting table of, of course!
I was surprised at just how good some of these wines were for their price point. Impressive stuff!
2009 Dario Coos Delle Venezie Vindos
Italy, Delle Venezie
Medium minus intensity aromas, marzipan, almonds…oxidised? Citrus and spice. In the mouth medium plus alcohol, meaty, zingy with some phenolic grip. Meh.

2010 Prà Amarone della Valpolicella Morandina
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella
cheesy, slightly meaty and, also, slightly confected over red cherry. The same in the mouth - a savoury meaty and almost oxidised quality with a candy floss and cherry boiled sweet note. It just seems a bit out of whack.
