Flight 1 - Warm ups (4 Notes)

The Domaine Carneros was a nonblind starter.

Flight 2 - I. Reds (3 Notes)

  • 2000 Château La Gravière Lalande de Pomerol 88 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol

Garnet color. Aromas of smoked game, tobacco, black fruit and plum, wit a nice herbal undertone. The fruit on the palate is more red than black, with a pleasant earthy/herbal tone in the background. Balanced; medium(-) finish. Pretty easy to pick out as Bordeaux.

This is drinking well right now, at peak IMO. My last bottle will be consumed within the coming year. This was opened and allowed to breathe in bottle about 50 minutes prior to being poured.

  • 1999 Domaine Serene Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve 90 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Dusty ruby color with aromas of rose petals, orange zest, red berries, cherry and perhaps even some tar. Cherry and red fruit on the palate, becoming almost Bordeaux-like as it sat with herb and tobacco qualities. Has a nice bit of acid too.
