67 Pall Mall
Tasted Thursday, October 8, 2015 by RayOB with 410 views
The first ever tasting at 67 Pall Mall and what a way to start. We have all been waiting eagerly for this club to open and the basement had just been finished for the tasting.
Prestige champagnes in Bottle Vs Magnum Vs Jeroboam supplied by The Finest Bubble with Jancis Robinson hosting.
It was great to see 67 Pall Mall have its first event and well done to Grant for sticking with it.
The Bottles Vs Magnums confused most people and there was some variation as the vintages got older.
WOTN for me was the '98 Krug in Magnum.

2002 Bollinger Champagne R.D. Extra Brut 92 Points
France, Champagne
You can really feel the Pinot in this Champagne. As Jancis said "Chest beating Pinot". Rich fresh and drinking beautifully. The Magnum was much nicer than the bottle. Bottle - 90 Magnum - 92

1998 Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 97 Points
France, Champagne
Did you know that Winston Churchill order 42,000 bottles of Champagne from Pol Roger in his lifetime. No wonder they named their Prestige cuvee after him. This has a complex long nose and palate with a rich toasty feel. Lovely. Magnum - 96 Bottle - 97

1998 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 98 Points
France, Champagne
What is it about vintage Krug that I love so much. The complexity, the richness the long long length. These three bottles were superb and the Magnum just nudging in the lead of the other two. I am definitely biased.
Bottle - 97 Magnum - 98 Jeroboam - 96
