Tasted just a little bit after the bottle was open for maybe an hour and it was not really a pleasure. The wine is still completely locked. The bouquet showed youthful even a bit lactic dark berries, mostly cassis. On the palate dark berries as well, some spiciness and green bell pepper. Firm but good acidity and sticky tannin. Wait with this wine until 2020 at least or give it lots of air time. No score for today, but around 90 by 2020 will be likely.
In the bouquet tea, lovage and some herbs and spices. On the palate sweet spices, sweet licorice, still ok acidity and a bit drying tannin. Also in the taste the first signs of lovage. Very mature, still drinkable wine, but this bottle was past its prime. Don’t know the history of this bottle, but it might have been stored too warm. No score.
This was a nice surprise. Very mature wine, but still very much alive. In the bouquet some pleasant barnyard, herbs and spices as well as pleasant tertiary aroma’s. On the palate a good balance between the acidity and a touch of sweetness, completely melted tannin, some earth, tobacco and autumn forest. Really nice with good complexity.
