Introduction

I am not a member of this group, but sometimes I am invited because too few members show up ;-)

Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • 2012 Dr. Heinz Wagner Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Spätlese 88 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Elegant bouquet with white fruits and green Granny Smith apples. On the palate still a bit sparkling because of its youth. White fruits and green apples again. A touch of petrol. Beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness. A lovely and elegant wine. 88+ for today. Give it 4+ years of ageing.

Flight 3 (2 Notes)

  • 2007 Van Volxem Schiefer Riesling 87 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Bouquet with minerals and mostly white fruits. On the palate yellow fruits like pineapple, apricots and grapefruits. Including the acidity and bitterness of the latter. The wine was served a bit too warm, but 87+ is probably about right when served at the right temperature.

  • 2007 Van Volxem Wiltinger Gottesfuss Riesling Großes Gewächs Alte Reben 90 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Ripe yellow tropical fruits in the bouquet. On the palate a sweet start with ripe yellow fruits like mango and papaya. Some honey. Yellow and green apples. Some minerals as well. Green apple acidity. Good concentration. Later, when served a bit colder, the wine showed more elegance. Concentrated wine. Wait until around 2020 and don’t serve it too warm! 90 for today and probably 91+ in 2019 or 2020.
