  • 2004 Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rosé 93 Points

    France, Champagne

From 20 Grand and Premier Cru vineyards on the Montagne de Reims and in the Côte des Blancs, 65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay. Medium copper colour with pale tawny notes; Grand Marnier on the vinous nose, fresh and deep, youthful, hint of nuts, spices and yeasty complexity; rich and vibrant palate, silky and fresh, steely backbone, spiced strawberries, rich and elegant, slightly estery fruit; layered finish, lime zest, good length. Has developed well since release in 2012 and is now fully mature.

  • 2010 Château Clerc Milon 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Carmenère and 11% Cabernet Franc, 14%. Perfectly classical Pauillac, ripe and rich but energetic, finely wrought, blackcurrant fruit and violet lift, the tannic structure is completely enveloped in firm flesh, pure and minty, fabulous spicy new oak, perfect balance and weight, the hint of tar is balanced by cool minerality, ripe but fresh fruit, not a hair out of place, beautiful resonance and length. Marrying power to precision, this focused Clerc-Milon must be (one of) the best ever. Drink now - 2040.
