Explosive strawberry and red cherry nose. Strawberry and raspberry jam on the palate. A lovely blend of sweet and savory. Very elegant and pretty. Soft red roses but still retains plenty of power. Haven’t tasted much exactly comparable to this. Unique.
Good nose with cherry blossom, rose petals, and smoked meats. Softer on the plate but still delivering a delicate balance of flavors. Nice acrylics too.
Hickory and honey on the nose on top of overripe red cherry fruit. Red cedar and soil on the palate. Thinning, souring, a little tart with a fair bit of brett.
Expressive nose with red berry fruit, loads of pastels and acrylics. Distinct minerality on the palate. Very enjoyable drinking. Superior to the ’91 Reynard after time.
Took some time for the aromatics to come around but eventually gave up strawberry and roses in addition to dark spices and darker savory notes. Complex and interesting nose. Savory palate bit with a syrupy core of currant fruit.
Amazing nose including roasting ribs, acrylics and clays, sauna wood, and ripening red fruit. Very savory overall, honey baked ham and ribs, scorched soil. Complex and simply mouthwatering at the same time. Big red cherry fruit on the palate still.
Aromatically amazing with red clay, acrylics, red spices, smoking barbeque pit, and roasting bell peppers, wow. Delivers savory flavor like a juicy Italian pork chop. Sweeter red fruit on the palate than the appetizing aromas initially suggest. A more or less perfect glass of wine. Would like to seek out more of these.
Relatively quiet compared to the ’91 straight Cote-Rotie drank alongside. Not as expressive on the nose and delivering darker cinnamon-like spices. Good on the palate but not as vibrant or exciting. Darker overall, perhaps a touch tired or a less than perfect bottle. Bit of maple here.
Overripe and rather opulent with bright red cherry fruit, gives up a few savory and spicy notes with air play. Robust and syrupy red berry fruit on the palate. Good, enjoyable, but lacking the complexity of the other wines in this outrageous lineup.
An expressive nose but definitely showing a fair bit of wood. Meaty but also quite dry. Nice bits of smoke throughout. Palate is still excellent but the oak is well pronounced. Not nearly the moving experience the first time around a year ago.
Dry relative to the ’91 La Turque served alongside. Woody, acrylics, and a touch of hay. Came back to this glass an hour or so later and it was totally different, very elegant and pretty, albeit with some wood remaining. Dry tannins on the palate.
Highly expressive nose with plenty of juicy red and blueberry fruit on top of smoky and savory meat notes. Rather gamey as well. This is a very strong showing. Still very juicy on the palate, but not as complex as the fantastic nose.
First Gentaz and not totally sure what to expect. Cool and quiet initially, somehow best described with damp river rocks. Some driftwood campfire in here too. Totally complete and complex palate with savory steak, some smoke, and mossy notes. Almost comparable to Laphroaig in a way. Nose is better than palate though. Unique and fascinating.
Very impressed with this tonight, an awesome bottle showing perfectly. Very fresh, pretty, and elegant with red cherry, clays and acrylics, and a thin layer of smoke. The palate great too and delivers a wallop of flavor.
Highly expressive nose including ceramics, clays, and acrylics with savory smoked meats. Warm red clay and roast beef on the palate. An excellent showing that some described as ‘perfection’ despite these spares notes… was more spellbound by the ’91 Cuvee Cathelin closing the night.
First Cuvee Cathelin and simply magnificent. The bouquet is expansive and encompasses everything from fire pit to cool mixing concrete to wild animistic characteristics. Big red berry and blueberry fruit on the palate with supremely clean and pure texture. Plenty of juice but layered and nuanced. Can spend a lot of time enjoying and thinking about this one. Magic.

Rustic soil with drying red berry fruit. Faint barnyard. A little thin on the palate now. Quite good, especially if you don’t mind a dose of brett.

Gravelly and soily nose with some ceramics and acrylics. Big on the palate with maturing red fruit with notes of copper. Souring somewhat now.
