Good colour, deep, soft but not tawny at rim. Delicate red berry, pepper and licorice fragrance. Medium weight, good intensity, very smooth seamless long palate. Well balanced acidity and soft tannins. Red and black fruits still at fore, pepper spice and licorice add complexity but don’t dominate. Drinking beautifully, so smooth on the finish.

Rare Northern Rhone Birthday - 1991: Rustic soil with drying red berry fruit. Faint barnyard. A little thin on the palate now. Quite good, especially if you don’t mind a dose of brett.

Beautiful aromatics of herbs, currant, olive and a little bit of smoke and leather. Elegant and well-balanced with great finesse. At this point in its evolution this is more mellow than intense, but that's not a knock because this is so great to drink. Decanted and drank over about 5 hours - great throughout but probably at it's best in the first couple of hours.

(Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas) Dark red violet color; focused, tart currant, violet, tart plum, iodine nose; sexy, tasty, mature but still youthful, bacon fat, tart black fruit, iodine, pencil lead palate; long finish
