Medium gold color. Drank a small pour over 15 minutes. The color looked pretty good on this and it was drinkable, but something of a meh for me. It was at the least oxidative, but was somewhat oxidized, sour apple, probably just too far gone to really enjoy. Would have been better with food.
Very light gold color. I'm somewhat dismayed that I haven't had this for over a year. I must be slipping. This bottle was very bright showing crisp pear, fresh and focused, always well done. Note to self - go get some of these again.
Medium dark red color with moderate bricking. PNP, drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Wow, this had a killer nose out of the gate. It's bright and lovely with no indication of the age here. Very floral, dried flowers, dried cherry, leather, and spice. The palate delivers too with a floral base on top of still very nice dried cherries, crushed red berries, dust, dusty wood, gravel and fine grained tannins. Really impressive at 25 years.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Dark red color, bricked. PNP, drank a small pour over 30 minutes. As good as the '91 Castel'in Villa was, this was not. In a pretty weird spot with cabbage, vegetal, strong anise, wood and cherry on firm tannins. Can't say I enjoyed in unfortunately.
Drank 1 glass over 20 minutes. This was so impressive for a humble little village wine. But make no mistake, the pedigree is clear. Nice and bright , cherry, mineral, fine tannins, very appealing. 89 to 90pts.
Drank a small pour over 30 minutes. Earth, savory nose, dark fruits, cassis, black cherry, herbs, spicy, pine. Feels very youthful and not ready. 89-90pts currently.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Dark red color. Pooped and slow-O for 1 hour before serving. Drank 1 glass over an hour. I liked the nose, nice perfume, wood, spices, cedar, anise, cherries, earth. The pallate is red fruited, cherry, minerals, some darker fruits too, deep, nice tannins, long. Very nice. No rush if you have more. 91+pts.
Small pour. This was good as always, maybe not quite as expressive and vibrant, but still Dom and it shows. Probably suffered a bit from being too warm.
