(Disgorged 2009 - old style bottle) Relatively fresh and green. I found it to be somewhere between two worlds - not yet fully toasty and mature, but also not youthful any more. Ideally I would drink them either younger or older.
Base of 1997. At the great place right now. Freshness and complexity - creme brulee, some flowers, bit of rye bread and even speck. High acidity. For a NV this is excellent.
(Base wine from 80s, an older bottle) Calm, round and with a certain pleasant sweetness. Still has high acidity. Concentration of Oloroso with notes of dried cranberries, rye bread with raisins, ripe red apples as well as ever present creme brulee. Rather big.
(Base wine from 70s) Actually lighter colour than the one with base from 80s - seems that the storage was an issue here. Bouquet of coffee and condensed milk. Wow. Super lively, super creamy and with a very very long finish. Outstanding.
Original disgorgement. Wow again! It has both the complex toasted notes of a mature champagne and the lightness and freshness of a young one. Usual toasty and creamy side is supplemented by mango and overall cleanness (as one can sometimes observe that vintage champagnes are cleaner than blended NVs). WOTN for me.
Disgorged for 2000. Green notes (nettle, grass, leaves) as well as raspberries and blackberries. Acidity is on the lower side and the palate is quite light. Excellent, but original disgorgement of '81 was better for me.
Original disgorgement. Fresh and in a very good form. Lemony-green notes prevalent, but there's also some light yeasty, savory animal notes. Very nice on the palate as well.
Lively dried fruits, sweet ripe raspberries, some peppermint. Very powerful and intense for such an age. Sinewy even with roasted nuts and dried apricot. Storage must have been perfect for this bottle.
Sulfur and mushrooms initially. Then come dried fruits Some woody character with peppermint. Not as good as '66. There was also some petrol that one can find in older Riesling as well as notes of Manzanilla. Others liked it better than me actually.
