My Place, Kent Street
Tasted Sunday, February 26, 2017 by chatters with 216 views
KC came over and cooked lamb, brought a fruit cake and I cracked open some foie gras. Bit of light cellar plunderage ensued.
What a pleasant afternoon that stumbled, unsurprisingly, into sloppy drunkenness. The Moss Wood was quite worked and the Batailley was superb. The Burkin Wolf shone for me on this occasion.
2008 Moss Wood Chardonnay Moss Wood Vineyard
Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River
Butter, toast, almond, cream over muted stone fruit especially peach…toasted sweet spice, buttery oak on the palate. Quite backed custard with slight honey. With time a little citrus and stone fruit on the palate but the fruit is quite muted

2008 Hubert Lignier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Les Blanchards
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
From Coravin. Almost smoky notes, ripe red currant, berry, touches of herbaceousness, leather and meaty elements. Dry, a little sharp with savoury red berries and meaty notes. Yum.

2009 Domaine des Croix Corton-La Vigne au Saint
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
From Coravin. Rich, dense, tending to black fruit spectrum, very polished. Equally polished on the palate. A little big for me at the moment. Time required.

2006 Château Batailley
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Blackcurrant, over cassis, slight sweet spice, cedar & leather. A little tough and juicy on the palate but utterly lovely none the less. Of course, roast leg of lamb may well have tempered my opinion.

2010 Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Ruppertsberger Riesling Auslese
Germany, Pfalz
From Coravin. Botrytis notes; apricot jam and citrus notes; lemon and lime and there is some bitter. This is sweet but beautifully balanced rich and round. Lovely.

obviously alcoholic, spicy, red berry, herbaceous notes and sweet spice as well. It's a bit of a beast but okay.
