Flight 1 - 1990 Champagne (3 Notes)

Flight 2 - Some Interesting Bottles of Rousseau 2007 (3 Notes)

Flight 3 - Proof - Why Rousseau's "Big Three" are the "Big Three" (3 Notes)

  • 2007 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin 96 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

Single blind in flight. Easily the best aromas of the flight and probably the best overall performance right now! Really - Chambertin! Seemingly perfumed start with an array black berries and lots of roasted meat. Perfectly integrated, not a hair out of place here. Very long, very complex. Easily my favorite of the flight for now, which made me think it CSJ, given its youth. Damn fool!

  • 2007 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru

Single blind in flight. Charming to start, then even more charming a few hours later. Seemingly the most accessible of the flight, and the lightest colored as well, this also kept hinting at spice and roasted meat. I correctly identified this one wine correctly in the flight.

  • 2007 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

Tasted single blind in flight. Intense concentration made me think this the Chambertin, even though it was the least complex. Still superbly tasty, with upside for a decade+.

Flight 4 - But Who Doesn't Want Another Great 2007? (1 Note)

  • 2007 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Bonnes Mares

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

Popped-decanted-and-poured. Floral and spice driven start with red berries. Palate was far less accessible to start, then red fruit and savory spice ever-so-slowly emerged. Finishes all about elegance and perfect zen. Very interesting to start, then very enjoyable an hour later, easily showing 93-94 point potential.
