Introduction

Every participant had to bring a wine of the theme. We did not know which wines were brought by the others. All wines were tasted blind, also without knowing when the wine you brought yourself was poured.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2005 Domaine Parize Père et Fils Givry Champ Nalot 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Givry

    In the bouquet beautiful red berries, autumn forest, vanilla and rustic impressions. On the palate red berries, cherries, earth, autumn forest, clove, firm acidity and some bitterness. The wine is quite developed and in its maturity stage now. 88 - 89

  • 2014 Domaine Jaeger-Defaix Rully 88 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Rully

    In the bouquet red berries and some caramel. On the palate red berries like raspberries, red cherries, some vanilla, fresh acidity and sticky tannin. Light bodied and clean wine. Really pleasant.

    At first the bouquet only shows some red berries, later also rustic flavors appear. On the palate red berries like red currants and red cherries. Herbs, some pepper, ok acidity and tannin and some bitterness in the finish. 88 - 89.

  • 2009 Domaine Jaeger-Defaix Rully 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Rully 1er Cru

    The bouquet shows red berries, rose hips, earth and some rustic flavors. On the palate juicy red and dark berries, a touch of oak, mild acidity and tannin. Overall a pleasant wine with ripe fruits, a good concentration and length.

    In the bouquet lush red berries like raspberries and red cherries as well as some rustic flavors. On the palate red berries and red currants, sour cherries as well, juicy and fresh acidity and some bitterness. A bit disappointing.

    Most expressive and luxurious bouquet of the flight with red and black berries, smoke, vanilla, oak and matches. On the palate the same impressions, oak, licorice, chocolate and cherries. Good acidity and round tannin.

    Drank from magnum which has been kept for many years. In the bouquet caramel, yeast and hazelnuts. On the palate yellow fruits, nuts, reductive/oxidized, but still focused with good acidity.
