I arrived very late to a blind tasting, coming after dinner (and after 4 bottles of wine). So I was tasting with a tired palate and clouded judgment. The group re-bagged all the wines they already tasted and had me taste double blind.
2011 Cameron Chardonnay Blanc Abbey Ridge 87 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills
Late night, tasted double blind. Correctly identified as New World Chardonnay. Slightly ripe with good overall balance, just enough energy and moderate weight. Nicely enjoyable.

2013 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Late night, tasted double blind. Tasted at room temp, Chardonnay clearly came through, but this seemed slightly flabby. Re-tasted when colder several hours later it was nicely floral. Palate showed lots of bright orchard fruit with subtle spice and moderate weight and length.

2013 Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Clisson 86 Points
France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine
Late night, tasted double blind. Very pleasant wine with some moderately ripe fruit, plenty of good minerality. Others liked this much more, but I found it simple.

2013 Cappellano Dolcetto d'Alba 86 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba
Late night, tasted double blind. A complete mystery. I thought it was a simple entry-level left bank Bordeaux! Apparently the other blind tasters were similarly confounded. Certainly pleasant, this is a very balanced everyday drinker, even if somewhat nondescript.

2010 Bartolo Mascarello Dolcetto d'Alba Vigne Monrobiolo - Ruè 88 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba
Late night, tasted double blind. Again I had no idea what this might be, but truly enjoyed the bright red fruit that started out with good concentration. Perhaps slightly hollow in the middle, but very tasty indeed.

2010 Méo-Camuzet Frère et Sœurs Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Served double blind to the tasting group. Slightly reductive start, so 30 minutes in a decanter helped. Bright red cherry aromas, flavors. Lots of iron and mineral textures support long finish. Good weight, great balance. Still very young, better 2020 forward.

1995 Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 93 Points
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Very late night, served double blind. Immediately seemed completely Amarone-like, so this one was easy. Slightly dull aromas, but explosive and powerful flavors. Great complexity and concentration.

2002 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
Very late night tasting. Very odd, tired and hot. Apparently this was even worse earlier in the evening when the group first tasted the wine. I haven't tasted this since shortly after release, but can't help wonder if this is an off bottle, despite no obviously identifiable flaw.

2006 Domenico Clerico Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Very late night, tasted single blind in a flight of four Monforte wines focused on Aldo Conterno. Decanted for 10 hours (?).Great nose of ripe fruit with a bit of earth and lots of spice. Lots and lots of black and red cherry, with good concentration and length, even if I found the finish slightly drying. Good now, much better in a decade, so lots of upside.

2008 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Very late night, tasted single blind in a flight of four Monforte wines focused on Aldo Conterno. Decanted for 10 hours (?). Great aromatic start, followed at first by plenty of rich cherry flavors, but then more brawny character middle through finish. Also needs another decade+ in the cellar. Very good potential.

2011 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala 91 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Very late night, tasted single blind in a flight of four Monforte wines focused on Aldo Conterno. Decanted for 10 hours (?). Ripe black fruited aromas, then red and black cherry flavors. While the youngest of the Barolos, somehow the most openly expressive, even if the most simple. This will probably start its peak drinking window, early, probably starting as early as 2021.

2004 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Romirasco
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Very late night, tasted single blind in a flight of four Monforte wines focused on Aldo Conterno. Decanted for 10 hours (?). Best nose of the flight with red cherry, earth, anise, mint and dried thyme. Perhaps slightly more mature than I expected from 2004, but that is a good thing in this case, because it clearly had the best balance and weight combination of the flight. I'd probably rather have the 2008 Colonello in my cellar, but this was close behind.

2009 Jemrose Grenache Foggy Knoll
USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley
Rich and extremely ripe in a manner that seemed a little too manipulated. Not exactly my style of wine. Others said it was terrible when they tasted it earlier in the evening.

2009 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Champans
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Very late night, tasted double blind. Clearly Pinot Noir, but seemingly more modern styled. Very ripe and lush with lots of black fruit and subtle spice, but very good length and concentration.Very good overall, but nothing what I expect from Volnay right now, but very "2009." First time tasting this wine since barrel tasted in 2010. Give this more time in the cellar, and I will be optimistic about its potential.
