Served double blind in 01/05/06/09 flight. Light gold color. Full lifted nose with lots of lemon cream, apple, mineral and evergreen notes. The palate has loads of density and richness while staying quite fresh and precise. This really shined when revisited an hour or so after the initial glass. Initially, I preferred the 09 but this turned out to be the class of the flight.

Served double blind in 01/05/06/09 flight. Pale gold with hints of green. Full nose offers Classic Chablis aromas of oyster shell, salinity and sea breeze layered into green apple. The palate shows leaner than the other two wines in this flight with bracing acidity and precise, chiseled flavors. Only moderate concentration. This is the wine that kept telling me the flight was Chablis. Surprisingly classic for a 2009.

Served double blind in 01/05/06/09 flight. Pale gold. A richer aromatic profile here with apple and lemon cream along with minerality. The palate is concentrated with dense and fat apple fruit. Surprisingly ripe. Good, if a bit atypical.

Served double blind in 01/04/05/08 flight. Medium gold color. The nose has some slight oxidation, which picks up in intensity with time in the glass. Bruised green apples and honey aromas. Palate has mature apple/pear fruit. The acidity is reasonably bright, but the fruit profile is quite mature and worsens in that regard with air. Drink up.

Served double blind in 01/04/05/08 flight. Light-to-medium gold. Full nose with aromas that are classically Chablis -- salinity, sea breeze and under ripe green apple. The palate is similarly classic with bright, cutting acids. The fruit is somewhat subdued right now and taking a second chair to the structure and acid. Good. Needs time to really shine.

Served double blind in 01/04/05/08 flight. Medium gold. A wow nose with explosive and layered aromas -- rich apple fruit, minerals, spice and wintergreen mint. The palate has terrific concentration and layering. A suave and sexy mouthfeel. Still so youthful with fresh, bright acids complementing the fruit richness. Terrific. No doubt my favorite of the flight and one of my wines of the night.

Served double blind in 01/04/05/08 flight. Lighter gold. Full nose that is more dense and non-delineated -- mostly just apple with a very slight oxidative note. On the palate, this comes across as more simple and one dimensional. Good structure from the still vibrant acids, but not much depth at this time. Hold?

Double blind in an 94/03/04/06 flight. Another wow stunner of a nose. So much power and intensity with aromas rich apple, citrus oil, spice and wintergreen mint. Great concentration on the palate. Mature, yet vibrant, white fruit and so much spice, lemon oil and minerality. Long, intense, layered finish. A truly epic Chablis. Wine of the flight, and along with the 05 Forest one of my favorites of the dinner.

Double blind in an 94/03/04/06 flight. The nose here was more bashful with notions of citrus, lemon oil and spice complementing white fruit. The palate had good concentration but was quite dense and non-delineated. Still has the acidity and freshness to age and unfold. Similar to the 04 Forest tasted earlier. Hold?

Double blind in an 09 Dauvissat horizontal. Light gold. Lots of apple and apple juice character. Simplistic. Probably better a couple years ago.

Double blind in an 09 Dauvissat horizontal. The nose is bright with green apple and classic Chablis sea breeze character. Very taut with good structure that is, for now, drowning out the apple fruit. Good, but needs time.

Double blind in an 09 Dauvissat horizontal. A bit reductive at first, but then the full nose blossoms to reveal appealing bright green apples and wintergreen mint. On the palate, just gorgeous and delicious. Rich apple made complex with spice, citrus and herb layering. Intense finish. Terrific. Preferred this to the 09 Clos in the flight.

Double blind in an 09 Dauvissat horizontal. Tight aromatically and never opened to reveal much. An amazing amount of stuffing on the palate -- huge concentration, rich fruit, taut acids, incredible depth and length. But just very wound up and non-delineated today. Needs time. Plenty of upside from here. Preferred the 09 Forest right now, which had more precision and nuance.

1996 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année 88 Points

Nose is mature with more bready/yeasty notes than fruit. Palate reflects a richer style with lots of toast and a round, lower acid profile. Mature flavors. Modest energy and effervescence. As a fan of younger Champagne, this is past prime for my tastes.
