From magnum. Ripe apple, great freshness, good+ power and length. Softer and rounder vs the 162eme or 164 eme of this same wine. Very balanced and wonderful now.

Open 30+ minutes before i tasted, this showed plenty of ripe apple and peach with very impressive concentration. Very energetic and fresh for a 2005. Tasted several times over the course of several hours, this remained quite consistent through the day, possibly coming across as ever-so-slightly riper later in the day.

Small glass, brief note. Starts off with plenty of ripe apple and peach, seemingly less classic and very "2012." Structure and finesse come through clearly middle to finish, with wonderful balance emerging. Good now with upside from here.

Dark color, musty/ oxidative nose. Better flavors are slightly more fresh, but not worth trying to squeeze out some enjoyment vs the better bottles around the table today.

Small glass, brief note. Ripe apple, good spice. Good+ weight and length, but not quite as powerful as I recall from several years ago.

Small glass, brief note. Black and red cherry that manages to come across as lush and fruit-centric, much in the style of the 2006 vintage, while still nicely balanced and elegant. Very good now.

Decanted for an hour before tasting. Red cherry, strawberry and rhubarb with savory spice. Leaner and lighter style for the 2014 vintage. Mineral textures throughout with lots of acidity but almost impeccable balance. Very long finish. Needs another decade in the cellar. 93+ point potential.

Small glass, brief note. Lots and lots of dense black fruit with savory spice. Very good length and concentration. A bit firm right now, this will benefit from more time in the cellar. 91 points today, 93-94 point potential.

Seemed odd to start, then VA character emerged in force.

Small glass, brief note. Charming aromas showing floral, spice and red fruit in great combination. Flavors less forthcoming at present, but everything is here for a 93+ point wine, 2025 forward.

Small glass, brief note. Ripe start with enticing spice and floral notes. More structured and firm middle through finish helps add complexity and length. Good now, clearly with upside.

Fully, fully mature with red fruit remnants, earth and cooked mushroom. Certainly still enjoyable.

Small glass, brief note. Black and dense cherry, some liqueur hint. Roast beef and sausage in the near background. Very good balance. Still very fresh.

Black fruit with some meaty notes, but hard as nails right now. Tasted from two different bottles today, neither decanted. Both small glasses, both consistent. There is a lot of great raw material here, so I think this has 90 point potential, but probably 2021 forward.

Small glass, brief note. Red cherry and berry throughout with baking spice hints. Very good weight and length. still rather firm, I expect this will still benefit from another 5 years in the cellar.

Black cherry with braised meat. Very good aromas, even better, bigger flavors. Dense and brawny, with excellent balance. Best showing I can ever remember for this wine.

Small glass, brief note. Ripe apple with some pear aromas. Same flavors with a hint of lemon on finish. Balanced and elegant with a slightly structured finish that I like. Good+ length.

Rich stone fruit, most prominent at the start. Slightly hollow middle is the only detraction, with good intensity and richness on the finish. Good freshness and vibrancy for the vintage. Overall very good.

Small glass, brief note. Ripe, rich and very concentrated. Lots of apple and peach with very good weight and length. Seemed slightly riper vs last time tasted in 2016. Probably best to enjoy over the next 5 years.

2009 Claude Dugat Charmes-Chambertin
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
(10/27/2017)
Small glass, brief note. First time tasting since just after release. Meaty and jammy aromas are very ripe and very Gevrey. I like the potential here a lot, just find the lushness is dominant today, so didn't get the much of the pleasure I expect 2024 forward. 93+ point potential.

2010 Domaine Francois Lamarche La Grande Rue
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Grande Rue Grand Cru

2010 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
(10/27/2017)
Small glass, brief note. Broad cross-section of red fruit here with licorice and clove. Ripe but superbly elegant with sneaky structure always in the background. Very long finish. Enjoyable today but with 93-94 point potential, 2025 forward.

This wine just keeps getting better with more cellar time. The new oak is finally integrated and complementing the sweet black fruit and sweet spice. Meaty and rich. Good+ weight and length. Good balance, but I expect even greater balance in another year or three.

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
(10/27/2017)
Black fruit with good concentration, but perhaps not the level I'd expect for the vintage. Tasted twice over two hours, this was very backward to start, and more accessible later in the day, but still not quite harmonious. Cellar time will help, but this is not at the level we love from Rousseau.

2009 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
(10/27/2017)
Small glass, brief note. Extremely ripe red fruit on nose and palate, not classically what I expect from Clos de Tart, but so much long-term potential once the baby fat softens. Big and very dense, very long. 93-94 point potential, even if nowhere near that today.

2001 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
(10/27/2017)
Small glass, brief note. Still a very tough wine to enjoy or assess. Very spice-driven and floral, ripe throughout but not showing the weighty concentration I would expect. This still needs so much time to really integrate and harmonize, but there is so much going on in all directions right now.

Ripe apple with toasted walnut and both sweet and savory spice. Rich and harmonious. Very good weight, good+ length, great balance. Last bottle was badly oxidized, so this was thrilling.

France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
(10/27/2017)
Small glass, brief note. More black vs red fruit with bacon, licorice and black pepper. Still a bit tannic, so balance is good if not perfect. Very good now, but I still think there is upside.

Small glass, brief note. An intriguing combination of rich, tropical fruit with crisp structure. Very good textures. Good now, clearly needing a few years in the cellar, but not criminal to enjoy this young.

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
(10/27/2017)
Small glass, brief note. Minty and spice-driven start with plenty of ripe fruit. Seems so 2012 to start, just a little too ripe, but middle forward this gets leaner and edgier. Very good and intriguing.

2015 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
(10/27/2017)
Small glass, brief note. Rich, ripe, nutty and forward. I'd be enjoying this more if this were from Meursault because it didn't come across as classically Chablis to me today. Still very enjoyable.

2010 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Meix Chavaux 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
(10/27/2017)
Cross-section of rich apple aromas and flavors with some baked apple. Good length, very good balance. Roulot personified, with the reduction entirely dissipated. Very good now.
