In this case we could bring a wine or pay an amount, so the person resposible for organizing the tasting could decide what to put on the table. We knew the theme, but all wines were tasted fully blind.
It was a great way to end the year with this tasting group. Most wines performed great! But especially the last flight was one never to be forgotten! Thank you Joram!!! :-)
2003 Château Batailley 90 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Beautiful bouquet with dark berries, tobacco, vanilla and some licorice. On the palate dark and red berries, beautiful acidity, round tannin which still has a pleasant bite, but is a bit drying as well. A bit short in the finish, but certainly a very pleasurable wine. 89 – 90

2004 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 91 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Beautiful and slightly perfumed bouquet with dark berries, some autumn forest and vanilla. On the palate dark berries, some bell pepper, leather and caramel, well integrated oak, good acidity and soft tannin with still a pleasant bite. For me personally a really pleasant surprise for this domain.

2003 Château d'Armailhac 91 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Just in the glass the wine was not very expressive and even a bit dusty, but there were dark berries like cassis and some cedar as well. On the palate a juicy wine with dark berries, some lead pencil shavings, vanilla, chocolate, beautiful acidity and round, but still firm tannin which can last for another 3+ years. Beautiful drinking stage when given some air time.
