This dinner was part of the 2018 Burghound Symposium curated by Alan “Burghound” Meadows as well as Christoph Perrot-Minot, staged by the Hong Kong fine wine merchant “The Fine Wine Experience”. The younger wines were clearly better than the older ones, more balanced, still modern for sure but less overextracted. In general the house style is blue fruit, concentrated, not dissimilar to Hubert Lignier but more extreme especially the samples of 2005/10 were questionable for my palate, i.e., Extraction at the cost of freshness and terroir transparency. 2015 was good and 2014 not far behind, 14 was relatively elegant. The 3 wines on display had their own aroma and structural profile,
- Charmes: Blue spectrum, Lighter, elegant style
- Mazoyeres: Blue, deeper, smokier, aromatically most complex of the three
- Combe Orveau Ultra: More red than blue fruit, mineralic
2015 Domaine Perrot-Minot Charmes-Chambertin 94 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Medium ruby, blue hue. Cool blue fruit Nose of cool blue fruit, cassis, spicy. Very primary still, concentrated but not over the top, hard to judge how complex this will be.

A notch lighter color than the 2015, nose of red and blue fruit. Elegant, soft palate, precise, soft tannins. Lighter than the 2015 but really nice and mineralic. Good stuff 94-95

2010 Domaine Perrot-Minot Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Dark ruby. Rich, dark fruit, ripe, plum. Powerful palate, blue fruit, good volume but finish is shorter than on the 2014/15. Modern, crowd pleaser style.

2005 Domaine Perrot-Minot Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 89 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Very ripe nose, fruit compote, plum, concentrated, drying finish. Too extracted for a higher note. A shadow of the good 2014/15

2015 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin 96 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru
Medium ruby, blue hue. Nose of blue fruit, vanilla, licorice also a complex earthy, tobacco component. Very good palate, concentrated and fresh, modern but in a good way and the most complex wines of this tasting.

2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin 94 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru
Closed nose of red fruit, some spices and sour cherry. The palate is medium-light bodied, aromatically is much more restraint, missing the depth and the complexity of 2015. Wait. 94+

2010 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru
Dark blue. Medium-light ruby. Rich, deep palate, sour, powerful. Good but not really elegant and complex, feels pushed. May be time will remediate that. 93+

2005 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru
Dark fruit, concentrated, plum, very extracted, drying finish. Clearly unbalanced like all the 2005 in this flight did not convince me in this tasting. Better try the wonderful 2014/15

2010 Domaine Perrot-Minot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau Cuvée Ultra Vieilles Vignes 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Medium ruby. Closed nose. Started really sour on the palate, got a bit netter but this really needs more time. All of the 2010 were quite massive and sour.

Nose of vegetable, maggi beef stock, lovage, oxidative. Also here, an extracted, overripe wine that did not deliver a lot of pinosity and pleasure. Got a bit better with air but I would stick to the recent vintages of this.
