We knew the theme, but all wines were tasted fully blind.
Because of the beautiful weather we started with a flight of white wines.
This wine is a blend of Syrah, Merlot and Sangiovese and Syrah is the dominant varietal. In the mature bouquet good barnyard, rust and tobacco. On the palate chocolate, sweet spices, beautiful acidity and soft, round tannin. Completely ready now.

In the bouquet creamy and primary berries and cherries. On the palate juicy red and dark berries as well as cherries and vanilla. Beautiful acidity and round tannin with still a good bite. Will probably improve with a few more years of ageing.

Very dark purple, almost black like Indian ink. The bouquet is locked and a bit musty with very ripe, almost boiled fruits. On the palate leather and a bit burnt and musty. Not sure if this is an off bottle, but I don't score it today.

Mature and rustic bouquet with autumn impressions, truffle, chocolate, sweet spices and still some cherries. On the palate chocolate, sweet spices, coffee, earth, a firm amount of pleasant sweetness and also good acidity. Mature wine and still going strong. A small leftover kept in the cooler was still very delicious the second day.

The bouquet is still a bit locked, but shows some medicine and clove. On the palate a juicy wine with good red berry fruit acidity and a pleasant touch of sweetness. Delicious wine which will improve with 3+ years of ageing. Try around 2021. 92+

See also my note of a few months ago. Just short notes this time. Pleasant bouquet with a lot of sweet spices. On the palate ripe dark berries, chocolate, beautiful acidity, powerful tannin and good bitterness. This wine needs at least another 4 years of ageing. So wait until 2022+. In this stage the wine really needs some air time; tonight the score went up from 89 - 92 due to the time it could breathe.
