First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind. Massive black cherry concentrate with a touch of blueberry, a little apricot and, with time, a smidge of black pepper. On the palate the is equally concentrated fruit which proves to have some residual sugar though is not overtly jammy, clean, slightly green stalky notes throws a curveball. Slight alcohol warmth on the finish. I guessed Shiraz Viognier, 2012, South Australian

Full and round with lots or pepper but lacking the complexity of similar level contemporary wines.

Weekly tasting group RWP #329; 5 flights of 3 wines (@ RW): In the bouquet vanilla, red berries and coconut. Same on the palate, a sweet start, oak, good acidity and slightly drying and sticky tannin.
