Floral, lemon cream, toast and orange peel. Clean and clear on the palate, with medium fruit weight and a mild mineral character that kicks things along nicely. Good flow and balance, not that much excitement but has potential to improve.

Intense nose of floral and slate with nectarine and smoke. I like the flavour profile here, it has intensity to the fruit while retaining great focus. Nice length and a nice wine.

Slate and florals with earthy spices, peach and pear. Arcs up on the palate, with acid that builds across the line - carrying and stretching the wine out. Good layers to the fruit, combined with that acidity producing a mouthwatering result. Delicious.

Tightly coiled nose - florals, chalk, lemon and flint. Extremely pure flavour on the palate, with layers that build well. Great length, this is showing a touch riper than some of the other wines in this flight, but holds it really well, with the acidity supporting really well. Feel like that may have the most potential of the 4 Spatlese.

Herb, lemon, light spice and violets on the nose. THe palate is medium weight, while still showing a bit of zing from the acidity. Finely balanced, the sweetness is present but it is focused well. Very pleasant wine.

Laundry power, white florals, lime, flint, apple and blood orange with some earthy notes too. The palate brings a touch of magic to the wine, brimming with energy and an extra level of intensity and depth. Very very long, with superb flow and verve, one of the highlights of the day.

Passionfruit, pear, slate, peach and vanilla bean on the nose. Again showing a leap up in intensity, having more sweetness that is reined in by beautifully composed acidity. Great length and no doubt there is excellent potential here.

A nice chance to check in on this wine again, a bit of a staple at the annual Prum releases over the last few years. Straw, smoke, lemon, chalk and pears. Finely detailed palate, with a good acid line that plays well against a tinge of sweetness. Plenty of composure here, with time well and truly on its side still.

Pear, lychee, lime, grapefruit and chalk on the nopse. The palate is quite full and dense, with the fruit and sugar sweetness both showing a level up on the 2009, the acidity holds it together well, but I think this is trending towards a quiet phase and when it emerges on the other side it should be lovely.

Another check in on this wine that I've thought was excellent right from release. Slate, smoke, peach, honey and apple. Great texture on the palate, with lovely fruit weight enhancing the mouthfeel of the wine. Steps up in concentration and yet still remains clear and precise. Ticking along slowly with purpose and potential.

Wax, honey, peach and mango with some vanilla as well. Rounded palate that shows of the sweetness, a level or two above the other wines today. Still has the acidity to carry the wine along into a good length, though it probably doesn't quite show the same dimension as the other wines today. Feels like it is starting to hit a good spot to drink but no doubt it will develop further as well.

Intense white florals, passionfruit, peach, mineral and lemon rind. Great poise and balance on the palate, this steps up well in both fruit and acid intensity to support the extra sugar and botrytis influence. Has an extra dimension that lets this wine sparkle among the company today. Impressively delicious already, with the best days for this wine a long long way away.

Pineapple, pear, yellow floral notes, grapefruit and graphite. Feels more delicate on the palate versus the explosive GH but still has great depth and definition. Great length to it as well. Does just lack the extra spark and comlexity of the 2015 version of the wine, but no doubt it should still reward those with the patience to let it hit its straps.

Licorice, plum, pineapple, lemon and vanilla with some orange peel as well on the swirling, lifted nose. Mouth-filling intensity with a bold flavour profile but the acidity to cut through brilliantly. Great carry and interest in this wine already, with texture and character. Super stuff.

Orange, marmalade, earth, lemon, ozone, smoke and coconut. Exceptional intensity on the palate with superb length and fine detail still present even with the power of the wine. The acid leaves a trailing tingling sensation that goes perfectly with the amplified flavours. A bright future ahead, spellbinding stuff.

Held back aromatics - chalk, slate, lemon and a touch earthy as well. Good balance on the palate, the fruit is nicely restrained with good acidity and medium length and depth. Not as much exuberance or energy as the other two Kabinett this year but it does feel well composed.

2016 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett 90 Points

Punchy nose with tropical elements, pineapple, passionfruit, white florals, apple and grapefruit as well as sweet melon - these settle down a bit after time in the glass. Palate shows good energy with plenty of zingy acid and a tangy sweet and sour note. Matches nicely with food at the moment, but may not show as well on its own. Good length and should develop well.

2016 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett 92 Points

Smoky graphite, pear, slate, lemon and apples on the nose. Super balance and poise on the palate, there is tangy acidity that flows with the sweetness that barely shows through - great spark and drive. The most depth of the 3 2016 Kabinett and easily my favourite - that should continue to be the case going forward as well.
