Introduction

This was a fun night, as all the wines were thoroughly enjoyable. It was also difficult to pick a favorite, because it was more of a stylistic preference than anything else. My favorite, and maybe the groups favorite was the 2008 Domaine Serence Evenstad Reserve. But the 2007 Beaucastel was a real looker, and the Pichon Lalande was good as well.

  • 2005 Domaine Serene Pinot Noir Jerusalem Hill 92 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

The flavor profile is consistent with Domaine Serene. The wine is fairly large, slightly creamy with red fruit. It does seem to be slightly past peak, which was quite evident while drinking this alongside the 2008 Evenstead Reserve. This wine seemed high-toned and a bit more mellow. i'm splitting hairs a bit, because it was still a great wine.

  • 2008 Domaine Serene Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve 93 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Two years later, and another 93. I'm tempted to go 94, but just can't do it. Consistent with previous note.

  • 2009 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 92 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

This wine had some great nuance. It was quite elegant except for a blast of spice on the finish.

  • 1997 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Decanted 1 hour. This was consistent with other's notes here. A lovely aged Lalande that is not from the best year. Very well developed, there is funk, earth and cedar. The palate does not live up to the nose, but it holds its own. 92-93.

  • 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Not decanted (shame shame shame Luis). This was the surprise of the note, because of so many lousy 2007 CDP's, this was gangbusters. It is full-bodied wine for sure, but not over the top at all. Beaucastel deserves credit for being consistent. For a young adult of a CDP, this is drinking very well. And I see I own 3, awesome! 93+
