  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

  Medium/deep garnet core, pale mahogany rim. Cloudy. Nose is developed, mulchy with a touch of Worcester sauce. Some dark fruit lurking. Medium bodied, spicy, mature, mulch, earth, soft tannins, quite gentle and evolved, some acidity poking out on the finish. OK - **1/2.

  Pale/medium garnet, wide pale rim. Closed, quite tannins, difficult to read, not getting much here at all. Quite different from previous tastings. NR

  Pale/med garnet, wide pale mahogany rim. Pure red fruits, florals, quite youthful. Pretty. Medium bodied with pure red cherry fruit on the palate, touch of savour. Attractive if not overly complex ***1/2

  8/12. Pale/medium garnet, wide pale rim. Lovely perfumed nose with pure strawberry fruit, spice. Medium/full bodied, spicy, gamey red fruit, charming and enticing but also with some gentle gamey notes, fresh acidity, good length harmonious finish. Excellent, drinking well ****1/2.

  Medium/deep garnet. Dark, meaty fruit, spice, touch of white pepper. Medium/full bodied, complex dark fruit, spice, meaty notes, firm tannins, long finish. Serious wine, should improve. ***(*1/2)

  Medium/deep ruby/garnet. A touch reticent at first but then showing pure red and black berry fruit, bursting from the glass, medium/full bodied, rich and expansive but with lovely vibrant contrasting acidity, fine but firm tannins, very good length finish. Excellent ****(1/2)

• 2007 Domaine Fourrier Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots Vieille Vigne

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vougeot 1er Cru

  Medium/deep ruby/garnet. Lovely pure red fruit - cherries mainly - singing from the glass. Some spice and just a touch of celery. Precise and quite linear on the palate, all pure red fruits with fine but firm tannins and lovely vibrant acidity carrying a good length finish. Excellent ****
