Solera 2005-2015. Pineapple, ginger, apple and pine needles. Decent brightness on the palate, medium depth with a twinge of sweetness. Medium length as well.
Lemon, roses, white florals, toast, vanilla and a light grassy note. Fairly rich on the palate, good length with good drive too. In a nice spot for drinking now as the balance feels just right.
Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Orange, pine needles, mint and menthol. Caramel driven palate, medium length, this is holding up decently. It doesn't have a lot of complexity, but it is showing all you could ask from it.
Grassy, melon, passionfruit, lemon and apple. The grass shows through on the palate as well, though the acidity is very bright and there is some grip to it as well. Very good length. I really enjoyed this.
Exotic notes with pineapple, violets, roses, orange and white pepper spice. Rich flavoured but has grip and nice acidity. Finishes clean and dry with good length. Good drinking now with interest and appeal.
Plenty of mango, plum, lemon and apple. Well composed palate, I'd guess around 25 g/l of sugar (actually 29), balanced by mid-level acidity and showing good length. Definite upside here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Cherry, redcurrant, ash and violets. High acidity on the palate clips the fruit, there is something to it but it isn't allowed to show through. May just need more time to mellow out, but I did think the same ~3 years ago and it hasn't changed a lot.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Raspberry, cherry, plum and blueberry. Quite plush on the palate, though there seems to be good structure to go with the lifted fruit. Youthful but I can see this coming along well in the next 5-6 years.
Smoky, roses, red currant and cherry. This is very youthful on the palate but there is a distinct delicious element to it as well with some bright fruit and a super line of acidity. Very fine tannins give this great structure to carry it forward. My first encounter with this wine and I was really impressed.
Rose and cranberry, graphite and cherries. Light weight on the palate, has good lift and verve. Really quite approachable and will drink well over the next 5 years.
Roses, ash, plum, orange, toasty spice on the nose. Very nicely restrained red fruit on the palate, there is a spark and good life to it. Very good length and balance here. Probably my favourite of the Nervi tried for drinking right now.
Cedar, chocolate, red berries and ripe redcurrant. There is more structure and tannic backbone versus the Valferana tonight, and I think given it is so coiled up, it may eventually overtake it for quality.
Blackberry, cherry, blackcurrant and earthy spice. Plenty of structure, but there is very high quality fruit to stand up to it. Very long and very much a wine that is more about potential than pleasure for now.
Violet perfume, pepper, graphite, raspberry, redcurrant and some plummy notes as well - good lift and aromatic density. The palate trends the line between sweet and savoury with excellence, bringing the best of both some sweet red fruit and various spices. Will try to hold onto my next couple of bottles for 7-8 years minimum.
Peppermint and pepper, lifted with dark floral notes and red berries. Bright on the apalte, with good fruit power and very good acidity keeping it in control. Ticking along very nicely indeed.
Blind. Coffee and vanilla, cocoa, licorice, raisins and iodine. Plenty of acid tang on the palate, with some serious grip as well. Good length too. A good options wine!
Plum, blackberry, chocolate and some prunes. The palate shows off the rich and ripe style with some mouthfilling sweetness and fruit intensity. Big but it doesn't decimate the palate, has some sense of control, even if it is in the background.
Classic - herbs, tobacco, red cherry and cedar. Medium bodied, well balanced and nicely composed. Drinking well already actually, but another 10 years would be good as well.
Pineapple, musk, pear and lemon with some quince as well. Delicious sweetness on the palate, rich and mouth filling. Lively and lovely, with acidity cutting through with purpose. Superb balance and drinking.
