The Bungalow Club, Mpls
Tasted Sunday, March 31, 2019 by rocknroller with 212 views
This was the monthly big tasting group event for March. The theme was blind pinots from anywhere. We had a group of about 18 for the event. Dinner was family style with a ton of food.
Light gold color. Drank a small glass over 30 minutes. Quite tasty, citrus, spice, peach, a touch of bitters and comes off as just off dry. 88+pts.

Medium red color. Drank a 2 oz pour blind over an hour. Young, spicy, a little earth, almost seems a bit thin in the middle, with a bit of heat showing. Thought NZ or Ore. Wasn't feeling this tonight, maybe it's now in Momtazi no man's land for a couple years. .

Same bottle as Bellissimo. Tasted a small glass blind over 30 minutes plus. This was pretty ripe, cherry, cherry cola, herbal, orange peel, very tart though. Actually made me think Cali more than Oregon.

Medium red color. Drank a glass blind over 30 minutes. I'll stand by my previous note from 5 months ago. This is good, but it is not there yet. I fully expect this to evolve into something more over the next 2 to 3 years. That said, it is very good now; lean and sleek, sour cherry and tart red strawberry, medium taninns. Pretty clearly Oregon here. 91(+)pts.

Medium dark red color, a bit murky. Drank a small glass blind over 30 minutes. Richer feel, dark fruit, nice textue and has some dried earth. High toned new world profile, fair.

Medium red color. Same bottle as Bellissimo. Drank a glass blind over 40 minutes. Cherry, clove, minerals, crushed rocks, more austere, dark cherry and spice. Very nice, called aged Burg. Very solid wine and a departure from what came before.

Medium dark red color. Drank a glass blind over 30 plus minutes. A big wine, ultra ripe darker fruits, glycerin, rich and full bodied for pinot, spice, pepper, and alcohol breaking through. I think this has some age and was from a warmer vintage, probably Oregon. Similar to a note from a about a year ago. I don't think this is going anywhere but downhill.

Drank a small glass blind over 30 minutes. Lost track of my note on this. Suffice it say I was not a fan. Seems green. Guessing NZ, not really close but was at least in the right hemisphere.

Medium red color, 1cm bricked margin. Decanted for 30 minutes, drank a glass blind over 45 minutes. Took one whiff of this and I was pretty sure this was my wine. This was so earthy and filled with iron and minerality, tobacco, red cherry, leather. The palate was medium plus bodied, ready to go with complementary tannins and a refined texture, cherry fruits, forest floor and mineral. Clearly Burgundy with some age. Turns out I was correct - this was best bottle of this wine I've had to date.

Drank a glass blind over 30 minutes. Another nice aged Burg here, more simple, but still showing earth and minerality and some cherry fruit. Still a good drink.

Tiny taste. Good, chalk, sour apple, dry, not too dry though.

Tiny taste. Same bottle as JCGuthrie. Very good, lemon, brine, richer and fuller than the '12 Bougros. Good intensity.

Small glass. Nose has sea air, pineapple, Meyer lemon, citrus. The palate has great brine, orange peel, Meyer lemon, good minerality, good dry citrus extract and a little toasted oak. Drinks well now and can age for another 5 years easily.

Small taste, non blind, older, alcohol, mineral dense, medium full body, darker fruits. A bit tired. I believe I wrote down 87pts, but notes were jumbled here.

Barely got a drop of this, non blind, can tell it is young, a warmer vintage. Needs some time.

Small taste, non blind. Deep and dark fruits, great spice notes, earthy, love the fruit and spice interplay and the overall presence. Have not had this for 5 years. Showing great as are most '08 Oregons.
