Dinner at Bellyhappychef: Pristine cork. Still very austere and reticent. Toastier oak than the Faiveley but more integrated on the nose and palate. Savoury and meaty character of Roty but not as expressive as the 2007 which I tried last year and loved. Even more shutdown on day two.

Monthly Tasting Group: Blind Pinots Worldwide (The Bungalow Club, Mpls): Medium red color. Same bottle as Bellissimo. Drank a glass blind over 40 minutes. Cherry, clove, minerals, crushed rocks, more austere, dark cherry and spice. Very nice, called aged Burg. Very solid wine and a departure from what came before.

Brought to a blind Pinot dinner, popped cork around 2 hours before we got to this. No formal notes but I correctly called this as a Burg and probably mine. Slightly green on the nose with a good bit of funk this was less about the fruit and more about an earthiness also more lean / elegant than the wines leading up to this point. I'd have no problems saying this has another 5+ years left in it.

Nose of wood being well supported by ripen fruits. Palate felt a good strength of wood too. It is done up really fine on back of the peculiar 2005 harvest.
Compared to the 2005 Grand and Premier Cru, the village is drinking better. The Grand Cru will need a longer ageing to show its complexity.

Well made, very smooth burgundy. Less fruit - more terroir - type of wine.
