Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Pokolbin
Toasty oak, butter, lime and straw on the nose. The palate is rich and is propped up by good acidity. An older school style, this is open already but I think will settle down a bit with more time.
Pepper, lime and ginger with orange peel as well. A lick of sweetness on the palate, with peppery spice and good length. A really good wine to go along with food.
Golden colour. Honey, wax, herbs and quince. Some richness on the palate, good orange fruit still in play. A touch behind the last bottle but still a fine wine.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Stems, cherry, violet perfume. Bright on the palate with high tone of acid. The length tails off though, with the flavour all upfront. Not sure where this will go with more time but it's not showing strongly now.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Plum, blackcurrant, cherry and berries - plush and ripe profile. The structure on the palate works well with the fruit power - it is held together well and shows plenty of future promise.
Liquorice, blueberry, spice and earth. Great balance on the palate, there is fresh but savoury fruit with refined tannins. Plenty of depth and length to this. Really quite good.
Coeur de Tries bottling. Golden colour. Lifted nose with lime, rose petals, orange, spice and lychee with honeydew melon as well. Very good balance, nice acid profile gives it a tangy element. Vibrant and complex. Delicious.
Mandarin, pear, melon, pineapple and peach - amplified nose and palate. The sweetness on the palate fills the mouth, with significant intensity. Extremely delicious, but I wonder if it might get tiring with more than a small pour.
