Closed nose. A bit of oak and tobacco. The sweet cherry fruit that this wine exhibited on release is gone. But with some air (24 hours worth), it did peek out a bit. Still overall a dissappointment.

Rich, red cherry fruit, cedar, spice. Great finish. Seemed to have deteriorated a bit with air, but still a nice wine.

Cedar, rich cherry fruit. Sappy acidity. Long finish. Excellent.

Dark color, very little signs of age. Nice nose of tobbaco, cedar and earth, but very little sweet fruit. Very watery on the palate. With air, it took on a petrol/rubber quality, that just got worse.

Not bad for a California 89 wine. A little tight on the nose, but a lot more flesh than the 88 had. Still, a bit drying and underwhelming.

Medium dark red. Black fruits. A bit dry and acidic. Some good fruit and caramel in it, but a bit out of balance.

Dark red with serious sediment! The nose was a bit closed, but there's a nice tobacco edge with some dark fruit and minerals peeking out. Very nice on the palate, with rich, pure cassis. Soft fruit, but still some structure that needs resolution.

Dark red color. Brooding, slightly overripe black fruits on the nose. Cedar and spice. Not as balanced as the '91. Left opened over night, it evolved into a rich, pure black fruit enriched beauty.

Rich black fruits, licorice, tar and tannic. A bit too early to drink, but all the elements seem to be in place.

Smooth, rich wine. Low in acid, and very enjoyable to drink now. Sweet cherry and cassis, along with a bit of cedar.

Nice nose of dark fruits.Tannic and hard, with a bit of a hollowness in the mid-palate. Nice, but the tannincs are clamping down like steel right now.

Tawny brown in color, with hints of green on the rim. Explosive nose of coffee, caramel, and creme brulee. Medium sweet, with a soft lingering finish. A very nice wine, but a touch more acidity would push it to the EXCELLENT level.

(Beringer Vertical, Milford) Another stellar performace. Great sweet tastes of peach, minerals, and flint, with great mouth watering acidity. Very long, and bone dry on the palate. An open bottle left overnight was even better. Killer stuff.
