Pale lemon. Pronounced aromas of white flowers, chalk, and seashells. Quite intensely flavoured yet light bodied, giving a rather elegant feel, with flavours of lemon flowers, lemon zest, and a seashell-like yet creamy feel, like slurping down a plump Japanese oyster. Fairly long as well. Nice!

2016 Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec Paraje Altamira 91 Points

Medium ruby with a wee slight rim fading. Nose completely dominated by hazelnut and cocoa, and even a bit of peanut butter. Rounded tannins, fairly acidic, a pretty big alcohol burn, and a bucketload of pepper spices! There’s also the flavours of cocoa powder, burnt wood, and a bit of overripe cassis at the back. Can tell there’s quite a lot of extraction and oak aging time. Nice flavours, but would have wished it be more represented by the florals and fruits of the high altitude Malbec

2016 Dandelion Vineyards Shiraz Lioness of McLaren Vale 91 Points

Deep ruby and a slight fading at edges. Aromas of candied ripe blackberry and cassis, and a little bit of coffee grounds. Fairly tannic, silky, but lots of alcohol and full bodied. Flavours beginning with ripe blackberry, and then the pepper spices and coffee grounds take over. Finished pretty long. Nice one but would prefer that it has better balance, or on the other hand be bolder
