Introduction

Long time (thanks Corona virus) since I've done one of these. Unfortunately they were decorating downstairs which rather ruined the tasting. Persevered though.

Flight 1 (22 Notes)

  • 2018 Traviarti Nebbiolo

    Australia, Victoria, North East, Beechworth

Aromas of cherry, sweet spice, alcohol lends pepper, a little butter and cream as well. Polish oak, semi carbonic maceration prettiness to the fruit, gritty grainy tannins, alcohol warmth. it's a bit out of whack for me.

  • 2016 Sub Rosa Nebbiolo

    Australia, Victoria, Western Victoria, Grampians

Slightly oxidised, funky, savoury, meaty, leather, a little wet plum. Soft mouthfeel but juicy acidity and talc textured but persistent tannins that travel long but this is a bit meh for me.

  • 2016 S.C. Pannell Nebbiolo

Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills

Medium minus intensity aromas show a little wood glue, floral with a rose petal top note, slight savoury spice and plums. Initially soft and fleshy mouthfeel then chalky tannins that dries out the palate with the fruit very much playing second fiddle. hmm.

  • 2015 Bird on a Wire Nebbiolo

Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Yarra Valley

Dusty, a little volatile acidity, and a touch of white and black pepper spice, slightly meaty notes. High intensity acidity, pronounced tannins are exceedingly drying and that's pretty much all there is. Young but nothing to warrant cellaring promise based on this tasting.
