From Coravin. Baked strawberry and blackberries, vanilla and sweet spice, a touch of tobacco leaf, a smidge of wood glue, gets more woody with time. In the mouth it's austere; the fruit more muted, the woody notes more to the fore, touches of vanilla and cream and almost buttery note. Hmm.

2008 Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva

From Coravin. A little metallic initially, slightly herbaceous, ripe tobacco leaf and herbs, fruit a little sun dried, touches of nuttiness, a little volatility almost, with time the fruit grows on the nose, if you'll pardon the expression, showing red berry compote, a touch of meatiness starts to show through as well. Juicy, savoury, that herbaceous quality translates to the palate with red berries, vanilla and cram, tannins are woody, grippy, tight and floury textured. all persist long. nice.

2004 Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial

From Coravin. Woody, slightly baked earth, sweet spice over a melange of baked red fruits, vanilla, cream, gets meatier with time, saovury spcie joins, a little herbaceous underpin. Juicy, rich, red berry compote is a little more savoury here, vanilla, tannins are silky, harmonious, almost a little milk chocolate. Long; very long with alcohol warmth assisting on the finish. Lovely.
