Virtual New Years to say goodbye to 2020.
The nose is precise, with bright lemon, well-integrated sweet oak and slight butter. Really good acidity and balance.

Four years ago I noticed that this wine had some Chablis characteristics. At this age, those characteristics have almost completely taken over and it reminds me of a 1er Chablis. Lime, lemon, light, bright, lots of acidity, crisp sea spray.

Lean, slight alcohol, dried flowers, a hint of greeness. This pinot was quite light for Shea, with good balance. 91-92

Decanted for 1.5 hours and poured into vessels at 5:30pm for transport. Drank a 2oz pour over an hour starting around 9:30pm. Earth, tobacco, leather, dark fruits, blackcurrant, bramble, strawberry, hint of cloves, blackberries, flowers and a layered gravelly texture.

Decanted for an hour and forty minutes and poured into vessels at 5:30pm for transport. Drank a glass over two hours starting around 9:30pm. Tobacco, pencil lead, cedar, cassis, mushroom and green pepper. This was really nice and has many years left.

From magnum, decanted for 1:40hr and poured into vessels at 5:30pm for transport. Drank a 4oz pour over an hour starting around 9:30pm. Great old school Bordeaux. Earth and leather dominate. There's cherry, mixed berries and mushroom. Dried leaves, forest floor and pencil lead create a polished palate that sings on the finish.

Splash double decanted and then decanted for an additional 30 minutes and poured into vessels at 5:45pm for transport. Drank a 2oz pour over an hour plus starting around 10pm. Red fruit, flowers, creamy cassis. This drank younger than expected and was less interesting than the previous 3 wines, although still a classy Bordeaux.

Decanted for 1.5 hours and poured into vessels at 5:45pm for transport. Drank a 2oz pour over an hour plus starting around 10:30pm. This wine is modern in style and is trying to get your attention. Chocolate, ripe cherry, cedar box, sandalwood. The sweet fruit and creamy texture are the most significant.

Decanted for 1.6 hours and poured into vessels at 5:45pm for transport. But I petered out at the end of the tasting so drank a 2oz pour the following evening. Blackberry liquish, kirsch, anise on the palate. The wine is dense, screaming for some red meat. There is sweet red fruit and pretty tannins.

PNP into vessels at 5:45pm for transport. But I petered out and the end of the tastign so drank a 2oz pour the following evening. Inky and fruity. Really fruity. The wine was not big or alcoholic, elegant, well-integrated, juicy and fruity.

NV Champagne Le Mesnil Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut 91 Points

An older bottle than the one's I've been drinking recently. There is little/no toast on this, it is chaulky with lemon and good acidity.

Musky with chalky minerality. The palate seems rich while the finish is watery and short. There are aspects of this wine that I really like and some that I don't. I'd like to try again with this or another vintage.
